Crazy cute!

I am totally in LOVE Lilly. I’m kind of thinking she might be the cutest child in the universe. No. Really.

Sparkly pregnancy

Isn’t Leah absolutely the cutest pregnant lady? I can’t wait to meet their baby…I’m guessing very cute and extremely active.  I love them as a couple and it’s awesome to see their family grow…I photographed their wedding 3 years ago and then we did an anniversary shoot in the vineyard (which you can see on my website…I snuck it into the engagements gallery). And now I get to photograph their family…it’s pretty much my favorite thing in the whole world!

In the beginning…

We used to play a game called “The six degrees of Gailynn Gluth” because in the beginning nearly all of my clients could be traced back to her. It might be a winding road but eventually it led to Gailynn Gluth. I will never stop being thankful for her wonderful taste in friends and amazing referrals. Connor, who is now so long and lanky and grown up and happy and interesting was just a little tottering 2 year old who ran over to his mom and gave her a rose and climbed in her lap for a kiss and a snuggle. They’ve moved to Atlanta now so I don’t see them as often as I’d like but I relish their visits. They have such a love and connection together and share so much of themselves with me. It’s like coming home.

But wait, there’s more…

As if their wedding wasn’t fun enough…the next morning I piled into a nice long limo with Caroline and Jeff and their maid of honor and best man and toured the city taking photos…we didn’t “trash the dress”….the fad of couples rolling in the surf, swimming in ponds or otherwise frolicking in their gown after the wedding…we drank champagne, ate strawberries and french fries and showed their friends the glories of Seattle…come on, who got the better end of that deal?Okay, she might have gotten a teensy bit dirty when she caught the fish…

Caroline and Jeff tie the knot

Ack…everything about Caroline and Jeff’s wedding was fun and gorgeous. It was a perfect day at the Seattle Tennis Club…the sun, the water, a gorgeous couple that love love love each other in a very real and funny way, and family and friends that were clearly thrilled that these two had finally tied the knot.

The moments right after a ceremony are often my very favorites…the relief and joy of both the couple and the wedding party is so touching.

I’ve heard of renting a photo booth for the reception but never seen it in action….big fun and it made for a really cute guest book…the strips came out double so that there was one for the couple and one to take home…so clever….plus it allowed for a little private time (I don’t think they even noticed my spying on them).

A perfect way to end the evening…a rousing seranade of  ”Sweet Caroline”…

Remembering Cody

It was sad and sweet to meet Cody and his people…he was sick and didn’t have a lot of time or energy left. We went for a nice walk and played a little ball….he passed away about a week later.   Pets are such an loved and special part of families…especially when there aren’t kiddos yet. I usually think about the joy and happiness surrounding childhood andf kids and families but this was memory making on a whole different level…It made me feel special to capture his self for them.

Vanessa and iLan are so cool

Dearest talented Libby,

*sigh* I am so happy. We got our photo cd today and…*sigh* I was nervous that all of the pictures would be awkward, because I haven’t ever had anyone take my picture like that. They are (bleeped by Libby) fantastic. I am so extremely pleased. We look like us, or how I have always thought we looked. We looked through the color set first and were so excited. You did a great job with the colors. Everything popped, but it wasn’t fake looking at all. Then we went through the black and whites. *sigh* There are some classic looking photos in there. I can’t help but thinking of our kids one day looking at these(it gets my eyes all leaky!). You did such a fantastic job. Thank you so much. I felt like we had made the right choice having you as our photographer, now I know we were right. I am so looking forward to you being there on our wedding day.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Happily your client,

Vanessa

P.S. All of the above sighs were happy sighs. *sighThis is probably the best email I can even imagine receiving. It states so perfectly how I want everyone to feel when they get their photos. Life is busy sometimes and not everyone writes…I hear later how much they loved their pictures…but to get this sort of amazing response just absolutely made my day/week/month and year!  And the best part is that I totally love Vanessa and iLan. They are so wonderfully in love with each other that they just seem totally full of that emotion and it spills over into every look and gesture and moment.  They are so cool that I had a few moments of shy awkwardness and then realized how lucky I am to be their photographer and hang out with them and their kitty and puppy. A kitty and a puppy…can you even imagine!
