Dori and Lukes rehearsal dinner

I was gone last week to shoot a friends wedding in New Hampshire. So lovely my friends are. Creative, considerate, spiritual, intentional. Their wedding was beautiful and meaningful and sweet and gorgeous. But before we got to that we got to relax a bit the night before at the rehearsal dinner. Those are always so fun…so full of nervous anticipation and excited reunions. The events were totally different…the wedding a country affair replete with square dancing vs the rehearsal which was an old time ballroom with a party dj but they totally complemented each other!

A funny thing happened

in the middle of…ummm….shall we say a challenging morning? The stars aligned, Owen stopped not cooperating, Reagan glanced my way, Monte dropped his ball and we got this beauty of a family photo!Of course this is after I’d nearly devoured Reagan in all her perfect, delicious plumpness. yum yum yum

Sarah and David’s Wonderful Wedding!

I gigantic heart Sarah and David. I triple quadruple luvvved their wedding. It was sooo them. From the formals shot in the machine shop, the ceremony with readings from every family member, homemade ice cream sandwiches and a whip cream cake, the first dance to “Flight of the Conchords” and a thumbprint guest book. And that is all I could ask for in a wedding….a personal, meaningful, intentional wedding. Oh and yummy Ethiopian food and a half hour with just me and them after the ceremony doesn’t hurt either.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

Mostly…except that Gracie wasn’t really soooo into photos. I think it’s kind of nice to know that, don’t you? Because lots of times it’s not always as easy as it looks. And you can still get images that melt you…like Henry whispering a secret. Now that’s good stuff.

Stunning details

Weddings are your one day….but to get there it’s months (okay, sometimes years) of planning. The obvious things like a stunning gown and beautiful flowers, delicious food and the perfect dessert. But then there are the subtle personal touches…socks, votives, place cards. Signature cocktails, cupcake flags, themes, styles. Erica had some spectacular help from Katy of Unveiled Events planning her gorgeous wedding….It’s the first time we’ve worked together and she totally blew me away with her attention to detail and careful management.Argh, the flowers were sooooo cool….they had green blackberry accents that just popped off the pinks and whites. All thanks to Fiore Blossoms

A Summer summer

Ah June…July was so busy it’s like I hardly remember that there was June and that I did summer things in June. Like visit my nieces in Dallas. And we did summer things…like slip and slide, and grilling, and swim meets and craft projects, we made popsicles and played Blokus and sloshed around in the rain. We went for frozen yogurt and over to friends house, climbed trees and explored streams. It was summer summer and I miss it and I miss my brother’s family.

I might irrationally love this photo…my knobby knees and all. It’s just what I wanted to do on this trip…just enjoy the girls and feel sweet with them.
