I love football and so do my neighbors. Occasionally I get to catch the Seahawks on Sunday if I’m not working. This year I’ve headed down the street for a Monday Night Football potluck with Suzanne and Marcia. There’s nothing like being schooled on football by a couple of 70+ year old ladies while munching on a sloppy joe!
My friend does not love football. But she is from New Orleans. And so we were excited to host the super bowl party. Her dad sent shirts. I made a football cake for the guess the half time score game and there were cocktail weenies. And now it’s 8 months of waiting for football season to start again.

I photographed Patti Smith the other night for Seattle Arts and Lectures. It kind of was as cool as it sounds. I wasn’t expecting anything since I only know her work minimally (don’t judge) and I certainly wasn’t expecting her to be as warm and generous and inviting as she was both back and on stage.
It was a really sweet talk about her and Robert Mapplethorpe and that time in her life. Nice. And then she sang and it was pretty cool. But then…at the end…she sang “Because the Night” a capella and I will tell you that it was totally and completely amazing and energizing and cool to be a part of.

Mmmm…so many holiday things. But so little post holiday energy. My biggest holiday achievement (aside from totally enjoying being overrun by my brother and his family) is really embracing my iPhones camera and apps in general. In fact I’m posting from an app. I’m not saying I’m going to start texting or tweeting but if I were I’d say omg…whats the world coming to!

There are places that you know from when you were a kid. Your grandparents house, summer camp, a big backyard. My gramma and grandpa had a cabin on a lake. We swam and fished, walked the dusty road, played with the other summer kids…real sticky, sunshiney, summer goodness.
She was a grandkid here. And then they were married here. And now her son is having his own adventures here.

The weather has been so yucky this past month that it seems like every weekend has been rained or frozen out. And then I saw Chet’s order come in and it reminded me of the sunny fun that was just a few weeks ago. Chet and I have had some slow warm up periods in years past but this time it was full speed ahead right from the start! And once again, I got that shot I wished I had of myself…on dad’s shoulders, laughing with your parents, so happy and in love….honestly it makes me a little teary.

I love love love this shot!
Chet was really frustrated (in a happy goofy way) by his shadow. He wanted it gone. His mom kept trying to wipe it off his feet but it just stuck there. Shadows are tricky like that!
